Meanings of Masks

Students in the Museum Studies Practicum course this semester are working on designing and curating an exhibit comprising of masks and artifacts from Papua New Guinea donated to Regis by the late Dr. Vera Laska and her husband.

To help inform the community about their work, in conjunction with the Department of Humanities year-long "masks" theme, and because Halloween just around the corner, the Museum Studies students are hosting October's Heritage Studies salon event on October 26 from 4:00-6:00pm in the first floor of the Regis Library. There will be posters and other artifacts explaining various aspects of the history, practice, and use of masks and mask-making in different cultures. There will also be an opportunity to make your own mask, and, in the tradition of the Heritage Studies Graduate Program, there will of course be plenty of food and plenty of conversation!
